And I swear to Gee Oh Dee, it’s not the “I forged my mums signature on an impostor permission slip to get me out of PE” type of reason for neglecting this delightful little page I have going here. Haha exaggerations aside, I’ve been a busy little intern, yes you read right! No really, I’ve been fortunate enough to land not one but TWO internships at two awesome magazines so please forgive me. Even though I’ve been so inspired and I’ve written little notes and posted links to some awesome blog ideas in my Iphone, I’ve been too busy to chase them up and actually sit down and write them out in a half decently entertaining way for you guys because even when I’m not interning I’ve had a shitload of Uni work to attend to! This semester has been seriously killing my …ahh wait what is it called again? Oh yes a life! I kind of forgot about that due to the fact that I actually lost the little life I had, but I’m back on board and it’s all thanks to the inspiration I got from the fabulous wordsmith lane blogger and all round nice girl Sarah Ayoub! But more on her later…

So on Thursday the 6th of May I attended the Walkley Foundation’s Media Pass Student Industry Day! It was held at Redfern Townhall, probably irrelevant to everyone else out there, but for my fellow aspiring journo’s you should seriously be kicking yourself… no, launching yourself into oncoming traffic for missing out on such an awesome event!

So I know there were more exciting things happening last week AKA ROSEMOUNT AUSTRALIAN FASHION WEEK!!! (Of which I shall blog about ASAP, so be on the lookout to hear about how I bluffed my way into RAFW and my take on the bizarre events that took place during the show)

But honestly, I’m so happy I attended this year! For those of you who are unaware of the Media Pass Student Industry Day, it basically gives us final year kids a chance to hear from a few awesome peeps in the industry. Now I attended last year… well I just sort of showed up as an interested 2nd year and posed as a final year student and listened to everything everyone said (of course I asked a million questions too). Last year was pretty good and even more so because there was a big group of UWS girls, however the members of my entourage were no where to be found :( actually most of them were busy interning and couldn’t make it! So clearly, I was forced to sit there and take in what each speaker was saying and even wait for it (so proud of myself) take notes!!! Most of them were mental notes of course lol it is me after all, but I’m so happy I did turn up because the guys from the Media Entertainment and Arts Alliance (MEAA) and Walkley Foundation really outdid themselves this year, the line up was pretty much on par with that of Future music festival :)

The day started off with a bang, what I thought consisted of the best panel, ranging from inspiring young Freelancer and media studies researcher at USYD Sarah Ayoub, Channel Nine news reporter Tom Steiford and the lovely Yalda Hakim, who is a video journalist at the SBS!

It was amazing to watch such a range of journo’s communicate with each other up on stage, each of them obviously from different walks of life yet they all shared one passion, the passion as a journo to get the msg across whether it be via video or written in print. Now most of you may not know (yet!) but I often cop a lot of flack from my girls for my absolute adoration for certain people in the industry aka the Mia Freedman’s, Lisa Wilkinson’s, Nedahl Stelio’s, Sarah Wilson’s and the Zoe Foster’s of the world. I know, I know I’m a nerd and I understand that yes all five of these women worked in magazines, I am and I will quote my friend Karina here an absolute “MAG WHORE.”

I totally accept the above title, but after hearing the “Making it in the media” panelists speak I learnt something:

1)Not only was Sarah a lifesaver for launching wordsmithlane.com but it was okay to doubt yourself every now and again.

2)Oh, it also confirmed that I definitely want to be a Journo!

Meet the peeps:
Sarah was warm and genuine, as expected. Ps I was familiar with Sarah and her work as we were twitter buddies prior to the event and I thank God for the day she sent me a link to her blog :) But seriously, believe me when I say I’m not being bias in regards to this group!

Tom was very confident, it was quite obvious he was a news reporter and his story was quite interesting, it turns out he got lucky in his second year at Uni when he got accepted to intern for WIN TV where he worked hard for a few years and found himself being promoted to Channel Nine news less than a year ago. And clearly he had no issues keeping the attention of the girls in the room, ifyaknowwhatImean.

The third speaker absolutely blew my mind. I have to admit it guys… I think I have a girl crush on Yalda Hakim. Honestly, she was so well spoken, so educated, the type of person that made me feel like I should probably remove at least 2 of the… “Wait, how many mags does ACP publish again?” Anyways…the number of magazines I carry out of my handbag and replace them with an extra textbook to read on the train. Her presence was startling; she was quite possibly one of the most beautiful women I’ve ever seen. Btw, I mean beautiful not fake tanned, push-up bra, with half a can of hairspray melted into her scalp type of beautiful.

Anyways, the day went on and a few more workshops took place but the other highlight of my day was after lunch during the “Pick me: Advice from Employers” workshop, the editor of Cleo, Miss Sarah Oakes was present and along side her was Heather Forbes, the staff director from ABC and the witty training and development director Jock Cheetham, from Fairfax.

Thanks to my awesome Radio and Television Journalism tutors I had actually heard Ms. Heather Forbes speak at Uni just two weeks ago so I wasn’t really fussed and gave my notebook and my right hand a much needed break from my aggressive note taking. However, I was pleased to see that Sarah had remembered me (how embarrassing!) as I’d run into her about a week before Industry day and introduced myself lol pretty sure my afro hair wasn’t hard to miss ;-) In short, that workshop was definitely relevant as they each spoke of the qualities they look for in a young journalist…I’m pretty sure I noted every tip Sarah was kind enough to share with us!

PS If any of you guys are interested in attending next year or anything Walkley Foundation related, hit up Allison at http://twitter.com/walkleys.

PPS they’ve extended the deadline to apply for Media Super Student Journalist of the Year Award so get to it – enter now! The winner will be announced at the Young Journalist of the Year Awards and also receives an invite to the Walkley Awards – it’s worth a try and hey I’m pretty sure that’ll get at least half your foot in the door. Even if you have like, massive Paris Hilton style feet ;-) Haha I’m actually still considering whether to enter or not, but I’ll keep you guys posted!

As always, much love Abi! xxx

Farewell Summer, for we must part… well at least til' November Sunshine!

Well hello there!!!

Long time no see, How have you been? You look different! Did you get those teeth bleached? Seriously, you're looking absolutely gorgeous today, I mean you're glowing...wait, OH SHIT... You're not pregnant are you? Nah, that's not it...OHMYGOD you've changed your hair haven't you?

If you answered YES, than Woahhh! I'm super talented since I can't actually see you at the moment, but for those (most of you) who answered No, you will most probably be getting a haircut or at least a treatment. Believe me you will.

What's that? Oh, so you like disagree? AS IF GIRLFRIEND? GOSH! With all those beached as bro' days we've been blessed to have had in Sydney this summer, we might as well be pulling a Gaga and get fitted for a wig ASAP! Even for those, who like me don't bleach their hair, or happen to be hair-dye-virgins, you need to know you are included. Basically, I've noticed my hair has dried up over summer and I am for-once-in-my-life so ready for a (Cringing as I type this) trim & treatment!

GASPING FOR AIR? Tis’ okay my lovelies, say it with me now- inhale and exhale, inhale and exhale :) The treatment I love and am actually used to it, I'm just surprised that I will HAPPILY/WILLINGLY allow my hairdresser to touch my curly locks, which are clearly overdue for a trim.

Look, don’t judge me. As much as I love summer, I think I’m ready to let it go. I mean, God knows I'm not a fan of the frumpy-ass winter days and considering that I, as a regular train commuter prefer the stinking hot occasional smelly-ass bogans on my trains to that embarrassing sprint to my platform in the pouring rain. (Mind you, if I’m lucky enough to catch the right train, I’m pretty sure as I enter I’m not greeted by a handsome young fella at the door who just so happens to be carrying an extra coat and a skim-hot chocolate.)

Okay REE-LAX, I know my life’s not exactly a Hollywood movie and truthfully, I don’t expect such a lovely & melodramatic situation ***Inmydreams.com.au to actually take place. But, as soon as those doors swing open there is a flood of people, people with dirty, smelly-ass shoes which after about three stops starts to irritate the absolute shit out of me.I guess I shouldn't complain, Thank God my stop is one of the earlier ones on the train timetable which is kind of a WIN! I get a seat, but then being the great citizen that I am, I kindly offer it to ANY PASSENGER who is remotely older than me(LOSS). I will most probably complain about that in winter. However, back to summer… So I can’t believe I, Miss Abi (aka highly enthusiastic promoter of all things summer) is kinda okay with the whole switch from summer to autumn/winter.

Now let me tell you, in recent years I have been one to hold on to summer for as long as possible for e.g. walking around in a singlet when the sky is greyer than that weird yet randomly sexy patch of hair Mr. Sheffield of The Nanny used to rock. Seriously, I am often FORCED to put my summer sandals away because I know it simply looks shit-house to wear a turtle-neck sweater with a pair of trendy sandals which conveniently showcase the 10 toes (I probably own) of which are clearly in the early stages of frostbite. Ps, I do realise that it’s highly hypocritical of me to do such a thing when I’m the first one to bitch about those Westfield-boganista’s who think it’s “TOTALLY HAWT” to team a denim MINI with UGG BOOTS in Sydney’s typical 40 degree heat!

I don’t know about you guys, but due to my current state of unemployment and Uni Holidays (which leave me with too much spare time on my hands), I think I’m just totally inspired after reading international magazines and viewing overseas fashion websites for the past 3 months. Which typically feature the likes of Leighton Meester and Kim Kardashian wearing the most FABULOUS boots & gorgeous winter coats!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 255px; height: 400px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_pjEQ8Owp-Oo/S2hZa23MBfI/AAAAAAAAAD0/N7QxHnDZU9M/s400/leighton.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5433691268360963570" />

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 255px; height: 400px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_pjEQ8Owp-Oo/S2hZuAZuc1I/AAAAAAAAAD8/UHCvbQwkmgQ/s400/kimk.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5433691597339259730" />

Well, what do you guys think? Are you over the summer fashion yet? Or are you seriously going to consider travelling to the other side of the world once winter hits us kids here down under?

***Inmydreams.com.au is not a real website; it was clearly used for emphasis :P Geez HOW EMBARRASSMENT! I really hope ya'll didn’t get all excited and try to Google it or anything.

As always, much love Abi xxx

Carrie Bradshaw found real love. Ridiculous, inconvenient, consuming, cant-live-without-eachother love. And I found Textbook Romance!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 260px; height: 400px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_pjEQ8Owp-Oo/S0ckihg1lRI/AAAAAAAAADs/XCuaOKVG5vg/s400/zoesbook.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5424344451721303314" />
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

It's that time of the year...SALES!! But more importantly all the uni bums are currently on holidaysss!!! Which for me, means finally starting my work experience at the local radio station and catching up with everyone from the school/uni mates to cousins and my gorgeous niece who was ignored for the last two miserable-ass weeks of the semester.

Anyway, I promised myself as soon as I was free I would dedicate my first two weeks to catching up with the girls. And so I did. Unfortunately because I’m so popular this was split into a few different outings as I tend to hangout with a variety of sexy biatches from different (as shitty and high school as it sounds) groups.

So, I met up with all my lovely ladies and I noticed a key theme in terms of conversation… surprise surprise MEN. I like to call them boys, because most of these guys were in their early twenties. Every girl had a different issue, some stories were just the usual “I can’t find a decent guy,” whilst others were afraid they may have committed to a non-existant relationship to a foreign man in a foreign country! Anyway, we shall leave the Sex and The City stories to another day. But this made me realise something about myself, I’m content with the single life; I also realised I have a new obsession…'TEXTBOOK ROMANCE.'

Zoe Foster’s Textbook Romance is basically a gal’s “step-by-step guide to getting the guy.” I've found myself selling this book, which has seriously become my newest obsession. I have even started to use the lingo Zoe has created within everyday life. In fact every time something came up in conversation last week I'd be like, "Oh babe, trust me-engage the apricot!” Unfortunately for me, no one got it, which meant I then sat there explaining. Wow! If exclamation marks could interpret my tone, imagine my husky voice at the highest pitch it could possibly reach. In short, I LOVE IT!

Oh and btw I’m so sorry for blogging about this after Christmas (I hope you can find a copy on the shelves!) but I seriously just milked that book because I didn’t want it to end.
How the obsession came about?

Well guys, you are going to have to use your imagination a bit here and visualise me, rocking up to the Dymocks counter in Liverpool Westfield’s… No, I’m clearly not the 40 something year old woman with a moustache! However, if you’ve spotted a girl with the curly (fuzzball) hair, rocking too-much bronzer-that’s me! As most of you know, I have little to no shame at all, thus my confidence levels are rather high. Yet, here I was perched over the counter with this sales assistant standing before me and I ask “do you have Zoe Foster’s…” and suddenly my loud confident voice turned to a small whisper as I force out “Textbook Romance!” As she ran over to fetch it for me, I made it as though I was ever so interested in some random cookbook. Anyway, once she’d returned I was so besotted that I got the last one on the shelf I could have kissed the poor girl, yet I contained myself and just turned to her with a gleeful look and she knew. Believe me, she knew. She gave me that look, you know that, “Oh I know you’re embarrassed, but its okay look!” So, she attempted to make me feel better, as she commented, “It’s a good read…ahh Hamish’s contribution is funny!” First of all I was like woahh?? I love Hamish (I really do) but its Zoe’s book too man. Secondly, REE-LAX girlfriend- I’m not heartbroken and clearly show no signs of a desperado in the making, I just loved Zoe’s first book (Air Kisses) which i also highly recommend… anyway, awkward moment much? So, I proceeded to pay for my
book and order in (coz God forbid I find it anywhere) Mia Freedman’s new one, Mama Mia!!

Ohh so excited (that reminds me I must go pick that up, girl called me during my workout to notify me that it arrived- how convenient with my pulse radiating at 20,000 km per millisecond, as if I could focus on phone etiquette? ANYWAY, that’s just a whole other story in itself! Which, I shall probably blog about anyways.

Those who know me are aware that I am the go to girl, without hesitation I inflict my advice on them-unfortunately whether it is music to their ears or not ... I must admit I’m the girl that prefers to be the ref, the one who is a celeb in her own right but decides to stand in the background and observe the game fair and square.

I often opt to enforce those ESSENTIAL DATING RULES! I’m not emotionally involved, but happy just monitoring the surface of the game rather than become the team player. Many may be surprised that I picked up a self help book; in fact I can directly quote Maya’s reaction over lunch the other day “WTF Abz, a self help book??” Sure, I got a few giggles and “Abz, babe, you ok?” Relax my lovelies. Don’t be surprised I haven’t been sane since the minute my dad cut that umbilical cord. Now I could have said that but in response to my worried friends, I (harshly) stated “Ahh yeah! I'm fine bitch, but that's because I have this to prepare me for the future! When you call me in tears or are rolling around in a foetal position, I‘ll try my hardest not to quote Zoe’s famous “No offence, but you’re a moron.” Basically, I believe this is the Bible, Quran, Buddhist Readings, Tanakh (Torah) and the code that scientologists go by of
romance! I know, pretty big call but you’ll understand when you read it.

So I know (ok never say never) but at the moment I believe that I won't allow myself to be in a relationship for a few years (unless of course Channing Tatum/ Tyson Beckford decide to leave their wives) Or ‘The Guy’ will have to be pretty darn spesh! However, I think every living female should own a copy of Textbook Romance! Zoe is witty, honest and straight to the point and Hamish’s 2 cents worth is as expected, perfectly amusing!

Furthermore look I'm more than happy to listen to my girls and I'm the first to admit when it comes to relationships I hold the least amount of experience. But funnily enough, I think I have that advantage, I’m not emotionally attached and as the old saying goes sometimes it takes an outsider to bring you back to reality! We all know I'm brutally honest and despite allowing my girls hours of crying on my shoulder ( to the point where my blouse becomes see-through) I'm the first to say “Babe, Fuck it- he isn't worth your time!”
But the golden rule which I absolutely LOVED was "he doesn't need to be reminded of your existence" ahhh pretty sure when I say: Jenny* don’t text him, he knows you’re alive, babe…believe me I know, I understand how tempting it is to text him but take your sim card out and shove your phone in your undie drawer (funnily enough Zoe agrees LOL she even insists you lock the drawer and freeze the key.) Over the top? Fuck yeah!! Nonetheless an ingenious idea!! Admit it, the girl is extremely wise.*P.S. names may have been changed due to the boyfriends who have me as a mate on Facebook.

So there you have it, I hope I have convinced you to checkout my new obsession. And to my dear friends, I’m so sorry in advance. This may or may not be just another obsession e.g. Mariah Carey, Iphone, Magazines, and countless celebrities that you have to add on to the list of things I will be talking about forever.

Oh, whilst I’m tooting Zoe’s horn right now, you should probably checkout the world’s best beauty blog http://www.primped.com.au/ where their motto is the-go-to for the how-to in beauty! Furthermore, for the girls that have read Air Kisses and are just as obsessed as me, Zoe will be releasing her new novel ‘Playing the Field,’ which is expected to be in stores February!

Finally, here’s to hoping you all stick to those New Years Resolutions! I hope to continue to lose the last 10 Kilos (ps lol SO over this resolution I’ve had it for 2 years and have lost 29.) I also aim to do as much work experience (Magazines) as humanly possible whilst maintaining decent results at Uni and getting in touch with my creative side by learning to play acoustic GUITAR!!! Hmm…I wonder if it’s a big jump from Air Guitar? But more importantly I wish you all a blissful 2010, filled with laughter, generosity, inspiration, and a bit of curiosity ;)

P.S. For the tight-asses who wish to borrow my copy of Textbook Romance, dream it-because there is a long waiting list!

P.P.S. I thought I’d add in a great quote/text message I received from my friend Maz today regarding Zoe’s first book Air Kisses, “I love Zoe Foster…I have about 80 pages left n I can’t put it down OMG I don’t want it to finish!!! EVER!!” Clearly, I’m not the only fan?

P.P.P.S you guys can reach Zoe via Twitter @zotheysay. I can't guarantee she'll reply but ya never know …Erm just make sure you don't mention my name, otherwise I'm pretty sure you’ll be getting the zotheysay@(inserturname) Please tell @ AbiMoustafa to quit stalking me. Nah, like seriously the bitch is getting annoying with her tweets/retweets!

Abi xxx

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://miss-abi.blogspot.com/2010/01/carrie-bradshaw-found-real-love.html' title='Carrie Bradshaw found real love. It was quite the controversial week...

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_pjEQ8Owp-Oo/SxfOnuWe22I/AAAAAAAAADk/JW3beTh-rkM/s400/parliment.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5411020659161488226" />
Wow, Can I just say what a surprising week it has been! We begin the week with Liberal Party deciphering their new Leader, the nominees or candidates (no nominees sounds more entertaining) were Mr. Joe Hockey, Tony Abbott and of course the previous leader Malcolm Turnball. Now is wasn’t a surprise that that good ol’ Mal didn’t win, but the number of votes he received sure did shocked us all. Joe Hockey was eliminated within the first round, whilst Mr. Abbott secured the win by a just one vote (42 votes to 41.)

Tony Abbott may have been the most popular kid in the voting room, but he still has a long way to go in the eyes of the public-particularly Australian women.

Sydney Morning Herald columnist, Miranda Devine agrees as she dedicated a whole article to this notion, “Abbott’s real trouble is the sisterhood.” (Check out the full article here- http://www.smh.com.au/opinion/politics/abbotts-real-trouble-is-the-sisterhood-20091202-k689.html) Ms Devine states, “Apparently, Tony Abbott has woman trouble. Despite the fact he has three daughters, a wife, two sisters and a mother who adore him, the popular perception of the new Opposition Leader is that women can't stand his blokeish, confrontational style.”

Honestly, I can’t say I hate him, but I don’t plan on declaring my love for this opposition leader anytime soon. I mean, I’m all for a leader with solid morals, but I think he is just a little too old school for my liking. As I watched the live updates on Channel 7, I soon realised that Koshie is just getting way too annoying in his old age and yes did the unthinkable, crossed over to the Nine network to view their live coverage.

Yet, as usual-whenever anything exciting in the world is happening, it is being discussed on Twitter. So, as you do, I logged in to see a few interesting reactions after Tony Abbott was declared the Liberal Leader. Now there were countless amounts of rather… well, let’s just say not-so-shy comments regarding Abbott’s issue with women. I picked out a few highlights that were mostly tweeted from major female journalists.

Firstly, I wanted to mention former Cosmopolitan/Cleo/Dolly Editor and Magazine GREAT, Mia Freedman’s response which I actually retweeted. It read as follows, “Libs elect a leader who is anti-abortion, anti-contraception and wants to ban no-fault divorce. Ho ho ho.” This post was also retweeted by Sarah Wilson, also former Cleo editor and current Sunday Magazine columnist. In fact, Sarah didn’t hold back, “Bloody hell! Tony Abbott wins - 42 vs 41.” Mia continued with, “Oh, Tony Abbott also anti-IVF. Seems like his speedos are the least reprehensible of his crimes against women...” Slightly…inappropriate? Maybe, but nonetheless extremely witty.

Mia also had something to say about Hockey’s unfortunate elimination, “Oh totally. Happy for him,” As she retweeted “@overingtonc: Joe Hockey just saved his health, his marriage, his family, his life #spill.”

Practicing Journalist and Journalism Academic Julie Posetti stated that, “In acknowledging defeat @turnbullmalcolm looked & sounded 10 times the leader Abbott appears w/ divisive language & robotic style.”

But the most controversial tweet I noticed was the comparison of Mr. Abbott to the has-been politician Mark Latham, “Watching Tony Abbott press conference. This is feeling so much like Mark Latham moment. HAVE THE LIBS GONE MAD??? I think they have.”

Although these powerful women openly speak of their dislike towards the new Liberal Leader, it seems Abbott, who was probed by recent Walkey Award winner Tracey Grimshaw, was eager to reassure her that polls show his women issue is just a fabrication. ''The last poll showed me somewhat more popular among women than men,'' he said. ''People will make judgments based on what they see now, not some caricature they heard some years ago.''

I think we will just have to wait and see what goes down over the next couple of months, because I doubt he will be able to hold his position for more than a year.

Now, to the GREAT NEWS! I was absolutely thrilled with the news that the NSW Premier Nathan Rees has been replaced by female politician Kristina Keneally.

Imre Salusinszky, NSW Political reporter (The Australian) writes, “Kristina Keneally has become the first female Premier of NSW after defeating incumbent Nathan Rees 47 to 21 votes in a Labor caucus meeting this evening.” It seems Rees was aware of his coming dismissal and opted to quit the NSW Labor leadership as he lost the spill motion 43 votes to 25.

Ms Keneally, the planning minister was appointed as the NSW 42nd premier, whilst “Carmel Tebbutt will remain as Deputy Premier, creating a unique situation of two women holding the top two positions in any Australian state government.”

History in the making people, I thought it was great when President Barack Obama was Elected and believe me I shed a tear but this particular movement is just so close to my heart. I’m Very impressed with the girl power that has been achieved and hopefully presented in years to come in not only NSW but nationwide.

Fun fact: In Ohio, she attended the same Catholic high school as Tom Cruise's wife and converted scientologist Katie Holmes, whose father was Keneally's basketball coach. ( I know not THAT fun... but, hey I tried. I know quite the serious post!)

Wow Canberra sure has been the busy place, what with all these vacant positions filling in fast, lets just hope they keep it entertaining! Ps Something tells me, it’s only just begun.

Signing off Abi, xxx

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://miss-abi.blogspot.com/2009/12/what-week-in-australian-politics.html' title='Who said Australian Politics wasn't Interesting? I must admit though, I’m not sure if I’d be the first person to wear this jewelry, considering…they are a little teenie-bopperish...actually SCRATCH THAT I am the Queen of teenyboppers, I’ll definitely be purchasing most of the items that are offered in the GG range.

With the lovely variety of Blair Waldorf inspired headbands, chucnky Serena-style charm bracelets – including tiny xoxo’s and GG’s indented charms attached to a black and silver mixture of funky beads.

Ahhhh I can’t wait to get my hands on a few of these pieces! The only thing that peeves me is the fact that I have to CHOOSE (fights back tears) between the “I <3 Chuck” and “I <3 Dan” necklaces! I’m guessing it will be a tad bit over the top to wear both right??

Abi xxx

Leighton Meester: Somebody To L.O.V.E.

We all know I’m a HUGE fan of Leighton and I’m sure most of you are aware of who she is, unless you have been living under a freaking rock. I’m going to assume there may actually be one person out there who is completely clueless and let you know that she is one of the hottest new actresses on the scene, best known for her role as the bitchy BLAIR WALDORF in Josh (love him) Swartz's ever so popular series Gossip Girl. And for those of you who have not yet seen it, PLEASE I urge you get out there and buy the DVD set, or stream it online :) Yet recently it seems Ms Meester has broadened her horizons and is fast becoming a pop sensation! She’s a triple threat with her acting which has proven to be kickass! Then slipping onto the music scene just last year when she sang alongside band Cobra-Starship in ‘Good Girl’s Go bad,’ and also continuously being titled, one of thee 'BEST DRESSED' females around the world!

Well, this blog is starting to sound like her resume, so I’ll get back to the point- her new film clip, ‘Somebody to Love’ featuring Robin Thicke. I think when I first heard this song it was a bit too much for me but it is honestly growing on me! The film clip is absolutely gorgeous! Just a tad bit over the top? HELL YEAH! Need I even question her sex appeal? Seriously she looks so sexy in this clip it should be illegal. The outfit changes are so hot! Did I forget to mention this girl rocks the Red lippy? Ahem, ‘scuse me whilst I pick my jaw back up…off the ground.

Look I’ll admit it’s no Michael Jackson Film clip; however I did find a few reasons why I’m so in love with this clip.
> RED LIPSTICK
> Amazing Fashion
> Robin Thicke - he is such a babe!
> Emotional Climax
> Sexuality

Leighton is featured caressing herself throughout the clip, whilst crossing to shots of her in various locations such as the elevator- of which she imagines herself making out with the ever so HOT Robin Thicke! As she moves through scenes in great looking bars, Limos whilst surrounded by city lights Leighton, who is sexing–it-up is rather depressed as she questions, “Is there somebody to love?” The clip ends as she awakes, STILL wearing that sexy red lippy and a lovely white blouse teamed with her signature stunning pearls and glamorous earrings.

I’ve attached the clip; please tell me I’m not the only one who is absolutely smitten over this girl?

Abi xxx

<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/get_player" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"width="320" height="266" bgcolor="#FFFFFF"flashvars="flvurl=http://v8.nonxt8.googlevideo.com/videoplayback?id%3D9e54b4dc85564f38%26itag%3D5%26app%3Dblogger%26ip%3D0.0.0.0%26ipbits%3D0%26expire%3D1331515635%26sparams%3Did,itag,ip,ipbits,expire%26signature%3D311FB7CC673A791648B68D47BE5EB7B95ED25F74.65062CB5AFA68128BD9D2099D35A6D7269C05FFF%26key%3Dck1&iurl=http://video.google.com/ThumbnailServer2?app%3Dblogger%26contentid%3D9e54b4dc85564f38%26offsetms%3D5000%26itag%3Dw160%26sigh%3DFhNKrE537jXfJY_EidL7qAFLLdM&autoplay=0&ps=blogger"allowFullScreen="true" />

Science Meets Pop Stars Half Way as Cloning Reaches It's Climax!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 348px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_pjEQ8Owp-Oo/Sn20dCPo6dI/AAAAAAAAABs/o2Z2eDKoZfQ/s400/BLOG+GAGA+KATY+MADONNA.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5367644741807172050" />

Well hello lovers it’s been quite a while since my last blog, I hope you guys have been able to go on with your daily lives steadily without the consistent reading of my ranting blog... then again if you’re seeking that I guess you could probably start reading Perez Hilton HA! What a joke :) Anyways this may not be THEE most important thing happening in the world but it is and has prominently been on my mind for the past few weeks. You see I have this issue, NO it’s not psychological! But seriously, I’m having major issues with identity and what it means. Now I don’t want to go writing an essay because God knows we copped enough crap about identity at school but considering the people I look up to or find interesting are usually celebrities I started to take note.

Most of you would have noticed I’m an extremely judgmental bitch!Okay ree-lax, I’m not completely anal but I do enjoy fashion and often admire it on anyone from the woman at the supermarket to random train commuters, but more importantly CELEBRITIES! (I think I just had a Celebgasim... yes sadly I just said that, I’m sure most of you would know I’m CELEB CARAZYY!!!) You may also know I’m quite the realist and honestly no matter how much we pretty it up and say beauty is on the inside (which is true to an extent) we are human and we do identify people by there appearance and sense of fashion, whether its the woman in her daggy crocks (Shudder) or the girl with the hot Fendi bag.

Now I’m sure when you think of fashion icons, several names pop up such as Madonna, Michael Jackson, Audrey Hepburn, Twiggy, Elle Mcpherson, Kylie Monogue, Sienna Miller, Tyra Banks, Kim Kardashian, Jennifer Lopez and countless models. Each of these people, in my opinion rightfully DESERVE the term "Fashion Icon." The thing that irritates me most is that almost anyone can be labelled a "Fashion Icon" these days. Look I love lady gaga as much as the next person but for God sakes, why is she already claiming that title? I’m all for new trends and trendsetters in society but isn’t this just a little bit out of control? Are journalists at loss for words these days? Simply throwing around the title to any Tom, Dick, and Sally? Whilst I seriously do admire Gaga for her risk taking clothing and lets admit it if anyone of us tried to pull off some of her statement-making outfits we would look ridiculous but to compare her to Madonna? I think this is a clear case of history repeating itself.

The thing is lady gaga is being compared to Madonna, and even though I may not put Madonna in my top five favourite singers I have to admit the woman has her own style and her music is pretty darn catchy too! Now I can see the SLIGHT, I repeat SLIGHT similarities between the two artists but Gaga is a bit of a Madge wannabe, don’t you think? Not that that is wrong considering almost every girl at one point in her life would have died just to look like her, truth be told my thunder thighs will never be as toned as hers! So there we go... it has been said, I have acknowledged there is a resemblance but where is the identity? Whose is it? And could it be a case of stolen identity? Because if you ask me this is going to be the second worst case since the Travolta/Cage in Face Off! (I no slight exaggeration, but I love the movie and you know me trying to get my point across!)

Yet the most annoying revelation I’ve had after viewing my regular cycle of trashy magazines and random online articles is that not only is Gaga trying to move in on Madge’s identity, which is so understandable but WHY THE HELL IS KATY PERRY TRYING TO STEAL LADY GAGA'S IDENTITY? I know, I’m sorry I get a bit excited and type in caps but I just cant believe that Katy whose career began to rise at the same time as Gaga’s would actually belittle herself like that. I mean, how sad is that? It's bad enough Lady Gaga claims her beat is sick as she tries to take a ride on Madonna's glory stick but WHY is Katy embarrassing herself and mimicking an overnight sensation… when clearly the sun is still setting for both herself and Gaga??

Furthermore, what is with the faux lesbian act? I am appauled at her fake attempt to promote homosexuality, honestly she is actually exploiting and offending people who are in fact homosexual. I know this probably isn't my topic of expertise, but I have gay friends and I find it offensive that she has kissed up to 300 women around the world through purposely selecting a woman from her audience at each show, whereby they lock lips in an attempt to add entertainment value to her performance! Funnily enough Lady Gaga is a self proclaimed bisexual... anyone seeing an oddly shaped pattern here?? Ahhh its so highschool, I've attatched a few pictures of Lady Gaga as a brunette, taken in early 2007, whilst a similar looking Katy is featured in 2008... Ahh who was it that said a pictures tells a thousand words? Seriously, need I say more?

Ultimately though, It's just sad because Katy does have some talent and she is naturally cute but the poor thing has no chance in hell trying to compete with Gaga and her beehive/cone holding head :)

Sorry guys but I just had to conclude this entry with a Meangirls quote, "Gosh Karen (Katy) your so stupid!" As is the Music Industry... I say move on, try hiring a NEW stylist because I'm seriously over the singing clones!

As always with much love, Abi xxx

"Gone Too Soon" Mj Tribute...Abi Style!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_pjEQ8Owp-Oo/Sl32YQk6w9I/AAAAAAAAABc/-7GZ7-FFxKU/s320/Michael_Jackson%2527s_Dance.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5358710028267865042" />

Hi guys!

Okay I know I have been a MAJOR SLACKER, but I'm back baby! As pathetic as it sounds (prior to MJ’s Death) I have been suffering from a severe case of writers block! - Actually No that was a lie, I just got a life! Yet, after much consideration, I have decided to dedicate my blog to the late (eeeekk just saying that makes me shudder) legend that was Michael Joseph Jackson. Now I don’t want this to come across as a morbid blog, because in actual fact my objection is quite the opposite! So guys, I advise that you close all other distracting windows, maximise this page and make a coffee or a cup of tea and sit back and have a read.

Well what can I say I mean WOW... ahh I am ...YES and document this people, I Abir Moustafa am actually at a loss for words. I clearly remember it, on the doomed day of June 25th (technically the 26th in Aus) 2009, I had slept at 3am and awoke at approximately 6:30am, made my to the kitchen, pulled out my bottle of water- had a few sips and returned to my bed to check the time. I checked the time and as you do, I pulled out my Iphone to check my twitter account (I know twitter obsessed!). Now I doubted too much would change in the past three and a half hours, unless Miley Cyrus uploaded a new picture or a few new articles were tweeted by the New York Times. But to my surprise (yes I know we had expected the terrible news) but still to my surprise I read RIP Farah Fawcett! Okay so I’m not her number one groupie but it still hit me, so I tucked my phone back under my pillow and sunk into my bed a little further and said a lil ole’ prayer for her. I can’t really recall where my mind had pondered after that, I guess I had dosed off.

8:30!!!

As I recall that unfortunate morning, I am seriously feeling sick in the stomach. Ahh but that could be the payback after all the chocolate I’ve been consuming! Anyhow, I had been awoken by my dear mother and my brother screaming, "Abiiiiiiiiiiii... WAKE UP MICHAEL JACKSON'S DEAD!"

***SILENCE***

Okay I totally understand they were stressed out and they too were surprised, thus their reaction was irrational and they felt the need to scream, BUT for God's sake could they not have been a little more sensitive?? Ahh, So I wake up and RUN (YES I RAN, HORRAY... I think I may have spotted a few pigs flying outside my window) to the lounge room to find out the latest on what was happening, praying this was just a nightmare, but no clearly channel nines Today show were playing along with this cruel prank, so I fiddled with the remote (hands shaking and all) and eventually changed the channel until it landed onto the Seven Networks Sunrise with Mel, Kochie and the whole crew discussing the critical condition Michael was in. At this stage I was standing there afro hair in my face, in my sexy flanno pj's and an absolutely devastated look upon my face. Somehow, the look of devastation soon changed to a scrunched up, angry bulldog-like stare whilst I tried to fight back the tears (B.T.W I was unsuccessful). First of all I thought, “Well okay… MUM! Get the facts right. He isn’t officially dead!” Well guys I guess I spoke to soon, unfortunately only moments later Michael Joseph Jackson was declared dead.

As I sit here tonight and try to find the words to describe such a brilliant artist, I realise that maybe... for once in my life I cannot find a single word in the English language to describe who MJ was to me. We are told he was a great father...in fact his eldest daughter Paris recently described her father as "'The Best Father You Can Ever Imagine," followed by a few flowing tears and the declaration of her love for her late father. As most of you would know (unless of course you have been living under a rock for the past two weeks) Paris Jackson shared these beautiful words with the world at her father’s public memorial service beside her aunties, uncles and fellow family members. This particular speech left me heartbroken, I immediately thought "Oh my God! She has so much courage… (gasping for air) to get up there and speak in such a genuine and personal manner."

Honestly though, I felt that memorial service was filled with countless heart wrenching moments. But my favorites would have to be broken down in to two categories, both the speeches and the performances. The greatest speech of the day would be proudly given to one of Jackson's greatest friends Brooke Shields. No offence I know, at such occasions I should not be bitching or judging but I assumed Brooke Shields would be a bit fake, but by the time she was finished I found my self losing breathe to the point where (thank God for Foxtel IQ) I had to actually pause the live streaming. Of course I don’t want to dismiss the other heartfelt speeches such as those made by Martin Luther King Jnr and his sister, Magic Johnson who was a little more humorous and Marlon Jacksons touching speech reminiscing on the simple moments he shared with his brother. Now the performances were all great and not to be bias but Mariah Carey and Trey Lorenz's (who opened the ceremony) rendition of “I'll Be There" was amazing! As was Usher Raymond's version of “Gone Too Soon," whereby the artist closed the song in a devastated and highly emotional fashion.

But back to my definition of Michael...hmmm… I don’t believe I can define him. Yes, as a person he seemed vulnerable and sensitive yet in some bizarre sense he was a strong character. I think that as an artist, maybe his title as the 'King of Pop' is not enough... maybe his estranged manger was right in declaring Michael label himself as The King of Pop, Rock and Soul! Although he was constantly challenged by the media and even by the law, it seems Michael stayed true to himself and the good old "innocent until proven guilty" theory was obviously a gold key of which MJ held to help him exit the allegations made against him for years.

Finally, it just wouldn’t be a complete blog without a bit more bitching or what I like to call “crucial judgment,” so given that Michael’s family rarely speak of him and rarely seen with him, after much observation I have come to two conclusions. One is that I noticed Michael’s father did not seem to be mourning, but in fact smiling throughout the whole ceremony. I understand I am not one to declare how people should mourn, because obviously everyone mourns in a different way but Joe Jackson was without a doubt looking for the camera throughout the whole ceremony with his smug looks and over exaggerated greetings to the many performers and speech givers. And my second conclusion is Latoya is a an evil mole! Look… I understand Latoya Jackson was his sister, but I felt sick every time her big hat showed up on screen. I know a little harsh but only two days ago I watched one of those "the truth behind Michael Jackson" documentaries, and Latoya was featured in it commenting that she had told her brother "that was enough," regarding her brothers friendship with children. Now to see her stand beside his children, sobbing uncontrollably was just inappropriate. Who knows... maybe she was crying out of guilt.

I have one last thing to say, I want to share with you some of the greatest lyrics ever written:

There comes a time when we heed a certain call, when the world must come together as one. There are people dying and it's time to lend a hand
to life - the greatest gift of all. We can't go on pretending day by day, that someone somewhere will soon make a change. We are all a part of God's great big family and the truth you know LOVE is all we need… WE ARE THE WORLD, we are the children, we are the ones who make a brighter day, so let's start giving. There's a choice we're making, we're saving our own lives. It's true; well make a better day just you and me. Well, send them your heart so they'll know that someone cares and their lives will be stronger and free.

Abi xxx

When Twitter Gets Personal!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 265px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_pjEQ8Owp-Oo/SkH-1P5wW9I/AAAAAAAAABE/c56dczmfmaI/s320/twitterpak560.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5350838023048158162" />
Most of you would know how Pro-Twitter I am, okay so don’t start throwing daggers at me! I know I’m obsessed to say the very least.The social networking site is amazing honestly by logging onto Twitter, average Joes and Jane’s around the world have direct access to communication with anyone ranging from colleagues and peers to Oscar winning actors straight through to academic elites.

I recently wrote an article about the great influence twitter has had upon journalism and the media in general and I’m currently working on getting it published!!! (Actually I might upload my article here sometime soon) The fact that twitter enabled me to gain an interview with one of Australia's most successful radio broadcasters (LOVE HER) Jackie O is amazing considering I received a reply within 2 minutes! Not to mention I was able to send the link of my blog to (MY IDOL) the one and only Nedahl Stelio (former editor of Cleo and Cosmopolitan) and have her not only VIEW IT but reply!

Basically for those of you who have been living under a rock or assume Facebook is about as technical as you can get, 'tweeters' are limited to just 140 characters, each post is sent directly to the main page of each user ready for them to view it each time they have signed in. Depending on how many people you are ‘following’ the updates change within seconds, specifically with the pages of news publications ....and the likes of MILEY CYRUS and Paris Hilton who seriously do nothing but tweet all day! haha but I must admit I cannot bring myself to unfollow them as they are quite entertaining.

But it seems the use of twitter has recently been taken to a whole new level with Perez Hilton opting to twitter alarming tweets such as, “I’m in shock. I need the police ASAP. Please come to the SoHo Metropolitan Hotel now. Please." Perez also declared, "I was assaulted by Will.I.Am of the Black Eyed Peas and his security guards. I am bleeding. Please, I need to file a police report. No joke.5:36 PM Jun 22nd ." It took the Toronto police under an hour to arrive at the scene, as perez twittered, " The Toronto police are here now. Thank you. Please stop calling them.6:16 PM Jun 22nd."

Now as daunting as this situation was for Perez, considering the poor guy has probably never been hit by a fly, the most disturbing factor I concluded from this situation was not the fact that Perez was physically abused by a member of Will.I.Am's entourage but that Perez was able to tweet about this incident at such a distressing time!

But Perez insisted that he called the police BEFORE he had Tweeted about it, simply because, "They were not showing up," and he "felt helpless." That word HELPLESS really jumped out to me! In fact I read over his post again and as my mind began to ponder for a minute or two I realised, okay so the internet is a great medium, it is fast, accessible and reaches a mass audience.We all know that but soon my mind came to a complete hault and I was left with two thoughts:

a) The Canadian Police Emergency system was just as slow as Australia's

AND

b) Twitter has expanded beyond belief, gone are the days when it was used for members of the business world and for celebrities to communicate with their fans. Apparently it has now become a service for contacting the police?

Look I am all for social networking sites, but seriously should Twitter be used for such important means?? Well don’t get too excited, my blog has not yet come to an end as I have one more essential incident to report regarding Twitter and its ever expanding use.

I was recently at a social gathering whereby I was explaining the world of Twitter to a girlfriend and I specifically remember (over exaggerating as I do) yelling, "YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT TWITTER IS? I LIVE FOR TWITTER!"
Fortunately I made this innocent comment during conversation but unfortunately it actually became a reality as I stumbled across an article featured in a popular Austrian online newspaper 'Austriantimes.com.' The article read as follows, “A teenage girl was electrocuted after dropping her laptop into the bath as she twittered in the tub." If this news wasn't heartbreaking enough, I read on "Police said they believed Maria Barbu, 17, had tried to plug in her laptop with wet hands after the battery died during a long session on social networking site Twitter as she took a soak at her home in Brasov, central Romania...She was found dead by her parents with the laptop lying next to her."

After reading this article I was absolutely devastated to say the least. I know I am usually one to laugh at awkward situations YES even deaths and by all means feel free to call me heartless but somehow I am human and I have two main reactions, I either: a) cry or b) laugh.

Well this was not a laughing matter and I am sorry to report such morbid news but honestly let this be a lesson for us all, whether we over use Facebook/Twitter or even my blog (yes I'm sure you are desperate enough to read my blog in the bathtub)- okay cruel joke but seriously people, its fine to make use of the technology we have access to but every now and then remember that you don’t need to live for technology.

Abi xxx (B.T.W. I wrote a novel if your eyes are a bit watery God bless you for reading the whole blog)

SPOTTED: LEIGHTON MEISTER FEATURED IN SEX TAPE!!!

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 212px; height: 320px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_pjEQ8Owp-Oo/Sj4-qmeVx6I/AAAAAAAAAA8/u-tUmmtqSMM/s320/blairr+ANGEL.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5349782308965959586" />
Before I begin this blog i would like you guys to know that I was so deeply affected by this news that it took me over 2 days to decipher whether or not to actually write about such a disturbing event :( Okay so its not like I am naive enough to believe that nobody in hollywood makes sex tapes, becuase basically thats like saying life is about baking cookies, smelling flowers and sighting rainbows, but out of all celebrities did it have to be LEIGHTON MEISTER! WHY GOD?? OH WHYYY???

Now I'm sure everyone is quite immune to the whole "hollywood sex tape" scenarios, but what surpsrises me most about the leaking of this particular tape is that Leighton's career has actually been on the rise follwing the first season of Gossip Girl. Having graced more and more magazine covers, even overtaking the spotlight of her blonde bomshell co-star Blake Lively.

Funnily enough this encounter actually brings a whole new light to her recently released song "Good Girls Go Bad!" featuring US band Cobra Starship.

Keep in mind, I am not suggesting this tape will make her, because quite obviously she has proven to be a talented Actress and Singer who hasnt needed such attention thus far, but it may actually break her! The question is will she be fortunate enough to overcome this disastrous leak? Well all I can say is that it is not impossible, considering the career paths that the likes of Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian lead which have escalated dramatically follwing the leaking of their sextapes.

I would like to leave you guys with one question to consider, some women used to "sleep with the boss" in order to advance in their careers, but it seems that the current trend is sex tapes..well at least its proven to be quite a success in hollywood, but how long do you think it will take before sex tapes circulate the office? Oh thats if they haven't already been leakedd...

Abi xxx (Somehow my usual ex ex ex just does not seem to cut it in regards to this blog considering how triple X rated leighton has gotten on us!)

PDA Age Dilemmas!

I dont want to come off as a prude but seriously within a distance of approximately 1.5km i spotted 3 different couples smooching yesterday. Correct me if im wrong, I understand Public Displays of Affection(PDA's) are a personal matter but the fact that these CHILDREN yes I dare say children around the age of 14 (if they are still charged as a child when they go to the movies, I still consider them children in my books as the concession speaks for itself!) parading around my small subrurb caressing eachother is not socially ethical. Mind you when I say kissing I dont mean the sweet subtle kiss, OH NO NO!!! I mean the FULL-ON SNOGGING, PASHING, ALMOST DRY HUMPING kind of kiss! The funniest thing was that this was sighted just minutes after these poor hormone driven beings were freed from school.

I must admit this recent sighting was not the sole influence of my first blog, but the past few episodes on Channel Sevens 'Home And Away,' featured bible bashing 15 yr old Annie having great dilemas regarding PDA's. The screen writers have featured the character Annie comparing her reserved self with her more outgoing best friend Ruby who is often featured openly participating in PDA's with her bf Xavier. Although this storyline may be perceived as cheesy but I believe it reflects an important reality! Maybe we have narrow mindedly grouped all teens as sex-crazed attention-seeking-Paris Hilton-wannabes? But I find it comforting that there may actually be girls out there that dont feel the need to flaunt their interest in or love of their partner through violating the rest of society's eyes.

Honestly though, not to be a traitor to my generation (yes technically a part of my generation lol) I must admit I'm not against PDA's but should there be an ethical sense instilled in kids these days? Ahhh i guess it was okay when Josh Schwartz presented Gossip Girl viewers with the multiple Nate/Jenny Humphrey kisses, she was 14 afterall! Ultimatley, I think this topic is based on personal opinion and not all teens do forcefully create an uncomfortable environement to those surrounding them by harrassing eachother but for those that do,I ask "Where do we draw the line of decency?" And "Should junior high school students parade around town (ALMOST EVERY SECOND STREET CORNER) molesting each others faces?"

Abi xxx

Warm Welcome!

Helloooooooo!

Well after much consideration i have decided to start a blog :)
I'm honestly surprised its taken me so long to actually start it considering the amount of hours I heavily procrastinate online! I have not yet deliberated what exact theme or purpose my blog is to have but I shall experiment and hope that I do interest a couple of readers! Basically I have an opinion about everything and anything so there is no drama im never at loss for words! I tend to go through stages so bare with me people one week I may blog NON STOP about everything pop-culture (MY LOVE) and the next I may actually attempt to write a few interesting pieces ranging in topics from politics to fashion to MARIAH! haha okay okayy I give everyone enough stories about Mariah Carey in real life, but I promise I shall try my very best to give you guys abit of Variety! ahhh anyways even if i dont have a million readers or followers I intend on using this amazing technology as free therapy :) haha!

enjoy loversss xxx
